What conditions can I use to search for contacts and create custom filters?
When you go to Dashboard>>Contacts>>Search, you can add conditions to search for contacts in your lists. You can combine up to 8 conditions and 8 condition groups to narrow down your search results, manage your contact lists, and send your messages to just the right group of people. Additionally, you can save the conditions as a custom filter. Custom filters are dynamic. This means that new contacts who match the criteria will be added automatically.
You can use a number of conditions to segment your contact list. These include Contact details, Contact actions, Geolocation, Tag, and Scoring. Contact details and Contact actions are condition subsets that allow you to segment your contact list based on specific criteria such as Custom field, Subscription method, Link clicked or Message opened. Specific conditions become available in a drop-down list once you select the appropriate category.
On the Search contacts page, expand the field next to Contact details and select the condition you’d like to use. On the Search results page, the condition options appear as a search tool on the left side of the page. (You can also access this page directly when you go to Search contacts>>View all contacts.)
- Name and Email
Use this condition to find—or exclude from your search results—a specific contact or group of contacts. Choose Name or Email from the dropdown list. Then, specify an exact or partial match for your search terms. Last, type the name or email address (or a fragment of either.)
Use this condition to segment your contact list based on custom fields you’ve collected using sign-up forms, adding contacts via panel, or when importing contact lists that contain custom data.
This is an effective segmentation method, since custom fields contain vital information about your contacts. Choose the custom field you’d like to use in your search. Next, specify whether you want to look for an exact or partial match (and what kind), or whether the custom field is or isn’t assigned. Last, specify the custom field value.
Choose subscription date and search for contacts who joined your list before or after a specific date, or in a particular date range.
- Subscription method
Use this condition to segment contacts based on how you added them—or how they subscribed—to your list. Select the relevant subscription method. Next, specify the condition parameters, where applicable.
On the Search contacts page, expand the field next to Contact actions and scroll to see all available options. On the Search results page, the condition options appear as a search tool on the left side of the page.
- For dates—such as last autoresponder date, last newsletter date, last open date or last click date—select a day or a range of dates.
- Message opened and Message not opened
Select the condition and then choose the type of message. From the next available drop-down list, choose a specific message. For Message not opened, you can also choose a date range or search for contacts who have never opened any of your messages.
- Message sent and Message not sent
Select the condition and then choose message type. From the next available drop-down list, choose a specific message.
- Link clicked and Link not clicked
Select the condition and then choose message type. From the next available dropdown list, choose a specific message. From the final dropdown, select the link you’d like to search by. You can also search by all links in a message type, and all links in a specific message. For Message not opened, you can also choose a date range or search for contacts who have never clicked any links.
- Autoresponder day
Enter the day of the autoresponder sequence and specify a day or a range of days. You can also look for contacts without assigned autoresponders.
Select this condition to search from contacts who unsubscribed from your list. The search results also show contacts you removed from the account.
- Bounces Select this condition to search for contacts who were removed from the account due to bounce. If you’d like to learn more about bounces, please refer to What are bounces and complaints.
- Unconfirmed subscribers Select this condition to find contacts who haven’t confirmed their opt-in to your list.
- Webinar Specify whether you’re looking for contacts who participated or not. Next, choose a webinar, and select whether you’re looking for all participants or hosts, attendees, presenters, or registrants. –
- CRM Select this condition to find contacts you’ve added to a pipeline. Specify the pipeline and stage you’d like to search.
Choose Geolocation from the dropdown list to segment based on country, city etc. GetResponse automatically captures this data for new contacts based on their IP address.
Use this condition to find people with or without a particular tag. From the next available dropdown menu, select a specific tag.
Use this condition to search for contacts according to a score value. You can select the specific criteria from a dropdown list—e.g. search for a score smaller or larger than the one you’ve entered. You can also search for contacts who don’t have any score assigned.
Ecommerce conditions let you segment contacts based on their shopping habits: what products they bought, what brands they chose, how many times they bought items from your store or stores, and how much they spent. This search option works for finding contacts added via API.
Number of purchases
Select this condition to find contacts who’ve made a certain number of purchases from all stores or a specific store. For example, you can use this option if you’re looking for:
- repeat customers
- customers who have never returned to your store after one purchase
Use this condition to find contacts who’ve spent a certain amount of money in one or all of your stores. Enter the amount, select the currency, and specify if you’re looking for people who’ve spent the exact amount or more or less than that amount.
Use this condition to find contacts based on products they buy. You can choose how broad or specific you what criteria to be:
– search in all stores or a specific store
– search in any category or a specific category
– search within products bought any time or within a specific time frame
– use the „is” and „isn’t” operators to specify if you’re looking for people who have or haven’t bought a specific product
For example, you can use this search option to find recent customers who have purchased a specific product from a specific category in a specific shop.
Use this condition to find people who have or haven’t bought a product from a specific brand in your store.
